10 May 1823. Re absence from employment To the Resident Magistrate at Liverpool. Sir, William Jarrett by the Sir William Bensley, having been absent from Government Employ at Liverpool for a month, I have the honor to enquire why he was never advertised. (Signed) F. Goulburn, Col Sec. 1823 May 16: Re pass issued to To F. Goulburn, Col. Sec. I have the honor to reply to your letter of the 10th instant and to state that William Jarrett, per Wm Bensley, reported himself to be free on the 8th April & was furnished with a Pass to Sydney for the purpose of obtaining his Certificate. From Thos. Moore (?) J.P. PUBLIC NOTICE. THE undermentioned Persons have obtained Certificates, or Tickets of Leave, during the last Week :— CERTIFICATES. Sir Wm. Bensley ... At our County Sessions, holden Tuesday last, before Coker, Esq. Chairman, and other County magistrates, William Jarratt and Thomas Fleming, were convicted of stealing one metal watch, the property of Mr Vernon, Watlington, and sentenced to be transported for 7 years; Oxford University and City Herald, 27 April 1816. -------------------------------------------------- On Monday last, Wm. Coburn, John Sumner, Stephen Steele, William Jarrett and Thomas Fleming, were removed from our county gaol to the hulks at Woolwich, preparatory to their being transported to Botany Bay; Oxford Journal, 15 June 1816. ----------------------------------------------------- Hulk Records at Woowich.
