On Thursday arrived from Calcutta, via Derwent, the ship Mary, Captain Ormon, with a various cargo. -Passengers from Calcutta, Captain Faithfull and Lieutenant Hamilton:-The Mary sailed from Calcutta the 23d of February, and left the Pilot the 1st of March. Mary's description record upon her arrival in Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) clearly stated her age, in 1831, is 20yrs. A house servant, 4'9 1/2", single. Marriage Permission granted 31 March 1836. (ref. 52/1/1 - to Elijah Larter (transported per 'Argyle') Ticket of Leave 7 Feb 1840 Conditional Pardon 14 July 1841 no. 3103.




the reason i changed her date of birth as i feel it maybe incorrect her age at time of trial was 20 in 1831 which would make her birth abt 1811 unless she lied abt her age




Mary Jenkins (14) was convicted and sentenced to death which was later commuted to Life and Transportation. She married a fellow convict Elijah Larter (27) on 31st March, 1836 at Richmond Tasmania.
