Convict Notes


Occupation: Plain Governess and needlewoman. Charged with her mother, Mary Pettigrew, with setting fire to her mother's house to claim insurance. Her mother was acquitted. Husband Caswell Jobling petitioned for her release, or to be allowed to travel with her. Mary Ann petitioned saying her mother accidentially set fire to the house. Mary Ann also described post natal depression in the years before her conviction.
