John was recorded as age 14 when convicted, his occupation a brickmaker's boy, and he was a protestant from Bristol. Furthermore, he was recorded as 4ft 4.75in tall, with a pale and pockpitted complexion, brown hair and eyes, with three tattoos: a J and heart on the inside of his lower left arm, nine dots on the back of his left thumb, and a J on his upper right arm. Born 1816 or early 1817, according to baptism, so either fourteen or twelve (as reported in newspaper) when convicted
John was baptised January 30th 1820, alongside his siblings. According to the parish register he was aged 3 at this time. John's mother, Sarah Ann Nutt (who died in 1821) had two brother, James (1793-1830) and Benjamin (1796 - 1889), both of whom were transported in 1816. They both returned to Bristol, presumably after the end of their sentences.
John Facey was born in1820 in Bristol, England, to John Facey and Sara Ann Nutt. He was tried and convicted on 17th October 1831 for stealing a purse at the age of 12 and sentenced to 7 years, deported to the Colony of New South Wales. In the Bristol Quarter Sessions court, the witnesses evidence reported was as follows, John Facey, 12, charged with stealing money from the person of Martha Evans. Martha Evans, on being sworn, deposed, that she was the wife of Thomas Evans, living in the Old Park, and that on the 12th of July, in the middle of the day, she was walking in Redcliff St, with a small reticule in her hand containing a purse with money in it, and that the prisoner at the bar had snatched the purse from the reticule and pocketed it. Witness had him apprehended and took the purse from him herself. Guilty: seven years transportation. He was transported as a convict leaving Bristol on the 30 of May 1833 on board the Convict ship, Lord Lyndock. John received his Freedom Papers on 4 of February 1842 aged 22. He married Eliza Molyneaux (also a Convict) on the 2nd of November 1843 and required an NSW Convict Application to Marry. John and Eliza eventually married in Glebe NSW, aged 23. His Occupation in 1865 aged 45 was a Drayman.
