John Hughes was listed as 20 years old on arrival in NSW - his occupation was a 'Country smith' and his native place was Dublin. Colonial Secretary Papers: HUGHES, John. Per "Isabella", 1822 1822 Mar 14: On list of convicts landed from the "Isabella" and forwarded to Parramatta for distribution (Reel 6009; 4/3505 p.11) 1823 Aug 23: On return of convicts discharged from the Establishment, Emu Plains; to Port Macquarie (Reel 6028; 2/8283 p.151) 1823 Sep 8: On lists of prisoners transported to Port Macquarie per "Sally" (Reel 6019; 4/3864 pp.68, 416-7) 11/12/1824: John Hughes died of 'Fever', at Port Macquarie - he was 22.
