Old Bailey Proceedings Online September 1832, trial of JOHN JONES JOHN JONES, Theft > simple larceny, 6th September 1832. 2167. JOHN JONES was indicted for stealing, on the 20th of August , 1 coat, value 10s.; 2 pairs of trousers, value 8s.; 2 waistcoats, value 7s.; 1 pair of braces, value 3d., and 1 half handkerchief, value 2d. , the goods of Joseph Humphrey . JOSEPH GALLOWAY . I am an officer. On the 20th of August, about four o'clock in the morning, I heard a cry of Police! and apprehended the prisoner in a boat alongside a ship, in Ratcliff-cross tier - I found this property on him. JOSEPH HUMPHREY. I am master of the vessel . I lost my coat out of the cabin, and my pantaloons and two waistcoat from the state-room, where I sleep - the prisoner was taken in my ship's-boat, which was moored to the vessel; I know nothing of him.(Property produced and sworn to.)
