The Yorkshire Assizes did not take place on the date given for his sentence. Hulk Records. HO-9-8_2 Portsmouth Hulks – (possibly The Leviathan?) Received Three prisoners from Northampton 20 Sept 1810. John Lee, age 49, CR (Capital Respite) Tried Northampton, 31 July 1810, Life. (Difficult to read where he was discharged to- Portsmouth Harbour?) ----------------------------------------------------------------- The following prisoners are to take their trials at our assizes, which commence on Tuesday next, … viz. John Lee, charged with stealing one ram sheep, of the value of 50s, the property of Valentine Barford, Northampton Mercury, 28 July 1810. At the assizes for this county, which ended on Thursday, … and John Lee, for stealing one ram sheep, the property of Valentine Barford, of Althorpe; were, severally found guilty, and received death, hut were all reprieved previously the Judges leaving this town.
