Convict Notes
John Madigan was the brother of Henry Madigan also onboard the Lord Auckland. They were convicted of the same crime (stealing 3 cows) and then they lived together at Prosser's Forest near Launceston. John was 30 years old on arrival, RC, could read and write, 5'4 3/4" tall, brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion and reddish whiskers single, pock-pitted, 2 scars on right arm below elbow. 31/5/1853: CP April 1858: John was murdered (his throat was cut and his head bashed in) supposedly by his brother Henry. Henry was tried and convicted of the murder and was executed and dissected in Launceston on 5/5/1858.
