FOOTNOTE: Newspaper report of his trial: "EAST RIDING MICHAELMAS QUARTER SESSIONS ... STEALING A COAT. JOHN PALMER, JOHN TOWEY,and WILLIAM1 DOUGLAS were charged with having, at Sutton-on-Derwent, on the 2nd of July last, stolen a coat ..." (Hull Packet, Friday 18 October 1850, p6).
