The Convict Indentures state that John Regan was 35 years old. He could read and write; religion Catholic, status married with 6 children and a native of Kerry. He was a farm labourer and boat man. He was convicted of pig stealing on 24 March 1828 at Kerry and sentenced to 7 years. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: height 5 feet 5 1/2 inches; complexion dark ruddy; eyes brown and eyes hazel. Transport number 186. Assigned to Mr Bales, Hunter's River.
