Passengers — Fourteen free females, viz. Mary Manning, Martha Morron, Margaret Mahon, Margaret Sheedy, Mary Ann Nixon alias Welsh, Catherine Kiernan, Mary Cassock, Catherine Stanton, Johanna Neville, Mary Lyons alias Hynes, Maria Moran, Catherine O'Donnel, Margaret Kennedy, and Mary Sullivan, and twenty-six children; also twenty-three children belonging to the prisoners. Apologies. My entry of yesterday was incorrect. I was unaware that both father and son were each transported on the Andromedia and my comments referred to John (the younger).
It is not at present possible to add new convicts to this database, presumably due to ongoing upgrade. Both father and son were transported. The son's details are as follows: Irish Convict Database, by Peter Mayberry. John (junior) Geraghty, age 19, per Andromeda II (1), 1830, Tried 1830 at Galway, Life sentence for Robbery house. DOB 1811, native place, Galway Co. Single, Labourer, reaper, sower. Son of John Snr Geraghty, arrived per same ship. -------------------------------------------------- NSW Convict Index. John (jun) Geraghty, per Andromeda, 1830, Conditional Pardon, 10 July 1848, No 48/1344. --------------------------------------------------- As the father was admitted to hospital, his details on arrival would not have been taken at the same time as those of his son.
According to Conditional Pardon, the correct person is John Geraghty (the younger), NOT his father. The shipping records indicate that John JNR aged 19 years was accompanied by his father on the same ship 'Andromeda' Ref.Irish convicts to NSW 1788-1849 by Peter Mayberry.
