26/7/1844 Lincolnshire Chronicle Lincolnshire, England: Crown Court Sheep-stealing at Corringham. Jonas Frudd, 21, charged with having on the 8th June last, at Corringham, stolen an ewe and a lamb-The prosecutor, who is a farmer, living at a place called Hasely, in the parish of Corringham, prchased on the 27th May last five ewes and to lambs of a Mr. Driver, a shopkeeper at Corringham. These sheep he turned out into a common field at Aisby, and saw them safe on Sunday evening, the 16th June, at six o'clock. On the Tuesday, one ewe, marked with a red dob on each side, and two snips in the near ear, and a lamb with a long tail, were missing.....The jury found the prisoner guilty... Prisoner, on being removed, said he should hope by good conduct to get home sooner than that, and he would show that he was innocent. Jonas Frudd was listed as 22 years old on arrival in VDL. Place of birth: Near Gainsboro, Lincolnshire. Jonas was 5'7¼" tall, fresh complexion, black hair, grey small eyes, mole on left breast, 2 scars on inside left arm, scar on each forefinger, mole on forehead, mole on right cheek, scar on nose, scar on left breast, literate, protestant, married with 1 child. Wife: Jane Brothers: Thomas, John, Joseph, Henry. Sisters: Jane, Sarah, Anne - all at native place. 24/6/1851: Permission to marry Ann Brady (Free). 14/7/1851: Married Ann Brady at St. George's Church, Sorell - Registered at Spring Bay. Jonas was 27, a butcher, Ann was 25, a spinister. 10/2/1852: TOL 29/3/1853: TOL revoked for being absent from muster.
