James Jones (proper name James Pitts or Potts)was convicted at the CCC, London on 12 June 1848 for Burglary - stealing a watch in Oxford Street, London. 10yr sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the ship 'Fairlie' arriving 4 July 1852. Single man; can read & write; Gentleman's servant; aged 22yrs; Church of England; 5'4 1/4". Native place - Chelsea. Sister - Jane Brothers - Edward, George & Wilfred. (Stated his proper name was "Pitts") 1852: Prison Barracks - Constable. 30 Aug 1853: Ticket of Leave granted. 25 July 1854: Conditional Pardon granted.
