n.b. There are two (2) James Jones on this sailing of the 'Fairlie' 1852. This James is Identifier no. 2. James Jones was convicted at Tauton 31 March 1844 for sheep stealing. 10yr sentence. Gaol Report: very good. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Fairlie' arriving 4 July 1852. Married man, 9 children. Native Place: Brecon Aged 42yrs; a tailor; 5'6 1/2"; going bald; Church of England; can read and write. Brothers: Bruce & David Sisters: Sibyl, Elizabeth Wife: Eliza or Elizabeth Service in the Colony. 8 Nov 1853: Ticket of Leave granted. 27 Feb 1854: absconded 7 Mar 1854: Ticket of Leave revoked. 26 Sept 1854: Ticket of Leave restored.
