IN VDL: 31 July, 1852: On arrival, he was listed as convict #25916, a commercial traveller, aged 39, widowed with 4 children, native place Lanark. He said he had been transported for obtaining £8 under false pretences, and had three previous convictions for fraud (as per his jail record above). The ship's surgeon "specially recommended" his behaviour during the voyage (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON33-1-108$init=CON33-1-108p134). His Conduct Record also notes "his proper name [is] McKinly".
