William Jones was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 31st Dec 1813 and arriving 28th Jul 1814 with 204 passengers.
Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

Death in Wallis Plains (Maitland) NSW 3 Dec 1826 NSW Death Register No. V1826713 10/1826 1813 convict indent states his appeared before Esses Quarter Assis 8 Mar 1813 receiving 7yrs. At the time he was a labourer from Shropshire, aged 38. New South Wales, Australia, Convict Indents, 1788-1842 for William Jones Bound Indentures 1801-1814 His conditional pardon 28 Nov 1821 give the same court, but dated 4/8/1813 which may have been another offence, as he was sentenced to life
