1825 Journey. On Saturday morning (3 Dec) arrived from London and Dublin, the ship Henry Porcher, Captain John Thompson, with 175 male prisoners, having lost one man - the rest in good health. She sailed from London the 10th of July, and Dublin the 5th of August. The guard comprises a detachment of the 47th Regiment, under the orders of Captain Donaldson. The Surgeon Superintendent is Dr. CARTER, R. N. Sydney Gazette, 5 Dec 1825.

Joseph married his first wife Elizabeth in Merstham Surrey, NOT Maidstone.
(1) Joseph CHISLEY (single) was convicted of larceny on 15 January 1829 aged 16/18 years. His sentence was 7 years transportation. He was transported on Mary to VDL arriving 9 April 1830. He worked for Mr Thomas - look up Chisley on Tasmanian Convict online record books page 49. He was freed by servitude, but was convicted of stealing 6lbs of soap(?) value 2/- property of Mrs Williams. Sentenced to a further 7 years. Never returned to England. Was given permission to marry Mary Ann Smith 1947 Hobart. (2)Joseph CHEASLEY (married) was convicted of larceny on 23 May 1836 aged 22/23 yrs. 7 years transportation. Transported on Henry Porcher arriving VDL 15 November 1836. Look up Cheasley on Tasmanian Convicts online page 2117. Disorderly conduct, severely reprimanded. Also recommendation that his ticket of leave be suspended for 3 months. He married Elizabeth in England 2 months prior to his conviction. Their son was born 1837. She died a few months later. Freedom 1843. He lived with his brother's wife Sarah from 1853 in Geelong, and had several children.
Joseph Samuel Cheasley was indicted for stealing 4 sovereigns. He was 22 on arrival in VDL, 5'4" tall, dark brown hair, dark hazel eyes, woman and flower inside left arm, anchor W & C inside R arm, scar on right eyebrow, cast in eye. He was also married with 1 child and wife Elizabeth at Maidstone. 9/11/1840: Lord/Disorderly conduct - severely reprimanded. Tried at Launceston QS for stealing 6 bars of soap - to be transported for 7 years. 1853: Married Sarah Harbour in Geelong. Sarah had married Hercules Cheasley, Joseph's younger brother in 1845 in England. They were both 17 years old and they emigrated to Geelong in 1849 and had 3 children. Hercules died in Geelong in 1852. Joseph and Sarah then married and had 9 children. Sarah was born 31/8/1827 in surrey and died 27/6/1907 in Yackandandah of heart failure. Joseph died at Barnawartha Victoria aged 72 of senile decay.
