Catherine JOYCE was convicted at Queens County, Ireland on 28 June 1850 for Larceny - stealing cotton. Previous offence. 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Blackfriar' arriving 29 May 1851. Aged 23yrs; country servant; single woman; Protestant; can read; ruddy complexion; brown hair; Hazel eyes. Native place: Queens Co., Ireland. No family relatives are listed on her Indent. Work service placements in the Colony. Several notes of misconduct and punishments, including being sent to the House of Correction. 28 Sept 1853: Delivered of a female child, Catherine - stillborn. Mother - Catherine JOYCE, convict. No father's name recorded. (ref. 33/1/31 no. 679 Launceston district) 29 June 1857: Free Certificate issued.
