William JUKES was convicted at Warwick on 7 March 1824 for stealing wearing apparel. Previously convicted 7 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Princess Charlotte' arriving 1824. Not recorded if single or married. VDL: Work assignments in the Colony. Worked in a Chain Gang. Ticket of Leave granted. Last note on record in 1831. (Note: there was another William Jukes transported to VDL in 1834) A William Jukes left Hobart for New Zealand in 1832 but not detailed if this man. Further departure records would need to be researched.
