GREEN PONDS POLICE COURT. MONDAY, 15th JANUARY, 1872. BEFORE Geo. A. Kemp, Esq., Warden, and Thomas Gorringe, Esq., J. P. Henry Butler was charged on the information of Mr. Superintendent Stanwix with having feloniously received from one Emile Julien a quantity of sugar, the property of Oscar Flexmore, of Green Ponds, from whom it had been stolen some weeks ago. Mr. Graves appeared for the prisoner. On the usual questions being put by the Warden, the accused elected to be tried by a jury, and the case proceeded. Mr. Flexmore stated that he had missed a quantity of sugar from his stores, and that his man cook, Emile Julien, had lately been convicted at the Green Ponds Police Court of robbing witness of sugar, fowls, and other articles. The sugar now produced by witness resembled that in the tin canister found in Butler's house by the police. …. The Mercury, 17 Jan 1872.

UTTERING. — A man of color, named Emilie Julien, was fully committed to take his trial at the police-office on Saturday last, for uttering two forged orders, with intent to defraud Mr. Cole, of the Cocked Hat. The amounts were £10 and £6 15s. It is evident the accused is a tool in the hands of some other party, for he is unable either to read or write, and could not himself have executed the forged documents. The Cornwall Chronicle, 21 Sep 1853.
