Margaret Kane was transported on the Margaret, departing 30th Apr 1840 and arriving 18th Aug 1840 with 78 passengers.
Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

Margaret Kane arrived per MARGARET 1840. The Margaret departed Kingston, Dublin on 30/4/1840 and arrived in Port Jackson on 18/8/1840. Margaret was 17 years old and single. 1844: COF. 29/4/1844: Married James Colclough (Mangles 1828)and had 9 children, 5 males and 4 females. 1870: There is a death for Margaret Colclough at Hartley on the NSW BDM.
