Catherine KEARNS was convicted at Monaghan, Ireland on 5 Jan 1849 for larceny - stealing clothing. Previous offence. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) per the ship ‘Australasia’ arriving 29 Sept 1849.

(n.b. there is another Catherine Kearns who came to VDL around the same time, per the ‘Kinnear’.)
Aged 21yrs; single; country servant; 4’10 3/4”; fresh complexion; brown hair; brown eyes; Roman Catholic.
Native Place: Co. Cavan, Ireland.
Brother: James (ref. Convict Indent record)
Sister: Eliza (ref. Convict Indent record)

Assigned to work services. ‘Anson’ hulk; Hobart district; Campbell Town. Some records of misconduct and punishment in the Female Factory.
