Catherine KEARNS or BRYAN was convicted at Waterford on 27 Dec 1847 for Larceny - stealing a cloak. Previous conviction. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Kinnear' arriving 7 Oct 1848. Ship Surgeon's Report: "good and quiet". Aged 28yrs; 5'2"; dealer in poultry; widow. Native Place - City of Waterford, Ireland. Mother: Mary Sisters: Mary & Margaret (recorded on Convict Indent) Assigned out to various work services in the Colony of VDL. Oct 1849: Absent without leave. 3mths hard labour at the Female Factory. Jan 1850: Out after hours. 3mths hard labour at the Female Factory, Hobart. 6 March 1851: Delivered of a male child (John). Female House of Correction, Hobart. 22 July 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. Revoked 16 Dec 1851. 24 May 1853: Ticket of Leave restored. 27 Dec 1854: Certificate of Freedom
