Johanna Crowley (nee Keeffe) died at the hands of her husband John Crowley. However, despite witness accounts stating that she was beaten John Crowley had the murder charge overturned as the post mortem report stated that her brain was poisoned from excessive use of ardent liquor and she had been dying anyway.
