Contributed by: Diana O'Rourke on 25/01/2024 Alicia was allocated to John Stoneham in Launceston on arrival but ran away in 1845 and refused to return - she was pregnant. She was then sent to Launceston Female Prison and worked in the nursery until she was allocated to John Gardiner in 1846 as housekeeper. She and John married in January 1847 and went on to have three sons, James Alliance, John Joseph and Peter, all of whom later went to Berwick in Victoria along with other Gardiners and Caseys.

Alicia was transported on the Mexborough with her cousin, Margaret Kelly. Alicia was the youngest girl ever transported, she was 11 years of age when she arrived in Tasmania. She was allocated to Ian Stonham in Launcestron, but by 1845 she was pregnant and ran away. When caught she refused to return to Stonham and was placed in Launceston Female Factory and spent over a year there. She was allocated to John Gardiner as housekeeper. In 1846 he applied to marry her and on 6 Jan 1847 they were married. The had three male offspring, all of whom eventually went to Berwick in Victoria along with many other Gardiners and Caseys.
