Monday last, a woman of the town, named Ann Kelly, was committed for: trial at the ensuing Assizes, charge of having stolen from the person of John Ness, the master of the ship B?, on the public quay, between 9 and 10 o’clock in the evening of Wednesday se'nnight, a leather pocket-book, containing notes chiefly of Whitby banks, to the amount of ?£. The pocket book was found early the next morning at Pandon, by a keelman, as he was going his work, the notes had been taken out of it, and no part of them have since been recovered.—On Wednesday Durham County Advertiser, 3 June 1826.
