Anne Kelly was transported on the John Calvin, departing 24th Jan 1848 and arriving 18th May 1848 with 92 passengers.
Built 1839 at Greenock, Scotland. Wood barque of 510 Tons. The 1848 voyage with Irish female convicts. The John Calvin, with 171 female convicts, arrived yesterday. She left London on the 26th December, and went to Kingston, when she took on board her prisoners, and left on the 24th January. There have been four deaths on board and three births, one infant still born. She did not touch any where and spoke no vessels for this place. Hobart Town Advertiser, 19 May 1848.

Anne KELLY (maiden name Robertson) was convicted at Kildare, Ireland in 1847 for stealing money. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'John Calvin' 1838. (n.b. Two Anne Kelly's on this voyage.) Widow, 3 children (2 on board accompanied her). Native Place - Queens County, Ireland. Husband: Patrick KELLY Mother: Margaret Robertson (ref. Convict Indent) Sister: Ellen Aged 29yrs; housemaid; 5'2"; Roman Catholic. Assignment to 'Ansons'. Record states a child Edward. St. Johns Orphanage have records of children admitted there, as Ellen & Lucy. Delivered of a baby, at Female Factory, Hobart named William 28 Oct 1849. Ticket of Leave 28 Dec 1852. A query note on record if this person is the Anne Kelly who died at hospital 20 May 1853.
