Listed on the Chapman’s 1817 Muster Roll as 42 years old, he was tried at Dublin City on April 16, 1816, on a charge of “felony of plate”. He was sent to Newgate prison before being transferred on September 21 to Kilmainham Gaol (prisoner #2857). From there, he was “sent on board the convict ship” on December 19 (see Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin, Kilmainham 1815-1910).
