Waterford Assizes. … Robert Kelly was put forward, charged with stealing wearing apparel and other articles of Walter Baldwin, on the 6th May. Walter Baldwin  examined by Mr. Hatchell the 6th May, about four o'clock in the morning, was awoke by his mother-in law, who told him that the house was robbed; got out of bed, and in yard adjoining bis own, found some his property; they had been stolen by some person contrived to get into the house through lobby window ; went in search of tine:' and property ; hat was found, which did not belong to witness, his servant, in the yard; knew the hat belonged to prisoner, because had seen tne prisoner some days before in the same yard quarrel ling with some persons, and had taken particular notice of him ; the prisoner was without hat on discovered, and in this hat was cravat belonging to witness; found him in the act of ...ing his second shoe, and about to ; brought prisoner into his shop ; he said his name was Gear, and was a boatman from Clouciel; knew that was not his name; prisoner here said, that another drunken man had come up them without hat; to which the prosecutor assented. Margaret Dauphy—Recollects the 6th May; was in bed ; saw a person coming out of a room with a bundle of clothes, and push it out of the lobby window ; identified prisoner ; it was light; and saw his face distinctly : her cloak was taken; it was got with all the clothes little after ; he had no hat or shoe on ; her door was directly opposite that the prisoner came out of, and her bed was opposite. The prisoner was found Guilty. Waterford Mail, 19 July 1826. Robert Kelly—seven years’ transportation.
