16 March, 1835: Thomas Kelly received a Conditional Pardon #682. 22 November, 1839: He was granted a Free Pardon #495 (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-23$init=CON31-1-23p180).

IN VDL: 1820 Muster: Thomas Kelly per Chapman -- holds a Ticket of Leave (New South Wales and Tasmania, Australia Convict Musters, 1806-1849; Tasmania; List of convicts (incomplete); 1820). 1823 Muster: Thomas Kelly per Chapman -- holder of a ToL -- was working at Bagdad, north of Hobart. 14 July, 1824: By this time he was a Constable and was fined 40 shillings for allowing Robert Delph, a prisoner charged with a felony, to escape (https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-23$init=CON31-1-23p180). 16 March, 1827: He was charged with neglect of duty as a Constable and "disobedience of orders in not delivering Caroline Fanteleur [Caroline Vantileur, per Henry 1824], a prisoner entrusted into his care, into custody immediately on his arrival in Hobart Town but allowing her to go to a house of ill fame and remain there overnight". He was dismissed from office and ordered "to forfeit all of his salary to this day". --0--

IN NSW: 1817: On arrival in NSW, Thomas Kelly was listed as a labourer from County Dublin; 5’7½” tall with a dark, ruddy complexion, brown hair and hazel eyes. He was listed as 27 years old on the Chapman’s Muster Roll, and 24 years old on the NSW Convict Indents (New South Wales, Convict Ship Muster Rolls and Related Records, 1790-1849; 1817; and New South Wales, Convict Indents, 1788-1842; Bound Indentures 1814-1818). 9 August, 1817: He was one of 70 convicts (69 from the Chapman and one from the Pilot) who were forwarded to VDL per the brig Jupiter. --00--

IN IRELAND: 16 April, 1816: Thomas Kelly was admitted to Kilmainham jail in Dublin, prisoner #2542, charged with burglary and robbery. He had been committed for trial by Thomas Babington. 6 July, 1816: Thomas Kelly, born 1793, was tried in County Dublin, before Barons McCleland and Smith, convicted and sentenced to death for burglary and robbery. His death sentence was commuted to transportation for life. [Some Colonial records give his trial date as August 1816.] The Bill of Indictment for burglary gives his residence as Killiney, County Dublin (http://findingaids.nationalarchives.ie/; Doc PPC 1362). 19 December, 1816: Thomas Kelly was sent from Kilmainham to be "put on board the convict ship" (Ireland, Prison Registers, 1790-1924; Dublin; Kilmainham, 1815-1910). --00--

NOTE: Three men called Thomas Kelly were transported on the Chapman. All were from Dublin at the time of their prosecution. Two were tried in Dublin City, and one -- this Thomas Kelly -- was tried in County Dublin.
