Source: Invermein Court of Petty Sessions. Deposition Books 1833 -1834 (Ancestry) Invermein, 12 June 1833. Details: William Kennedy per ship Eliza, assigned to Captain William Dumaresq, charged with neglect of duty. Mr. John Taylor states - I am overseer to Captain Dumaresq., and the prisoner is employed as pigman. A short time ago one of Mr. Littles pigs joined his herd. I gave him strict orders to take care of it until it was sent for and on last Monday week, I went to look at the pigs; on my going up to them he pulled a pigs ear out of his pocket and said Mr. Littles pig had died on the flat. I told him take the wheel barrow and bring it home. He returned and said he could not find it. I sent him again in the morning and he returned without it saying he could not find it. The prisoner makes no defence. The Bench find the prisoner guilty and sentence him to 50 lashes. NSW Convict Index. William Kennealy, alias William Kennedy, per Eliza 1832, Conditional Pardon, 30 Sep 1847. No 47/0923.
