Informant was the Coroner, A. B. Jones. SUDDEN DEATH.—On Thursday, at the "City of Norwich" Hotel, Argyle-street, an inquest was held before A. B. Jones, Esq., on view of the body of John Kermode, who died suddenly on the previous evening. The facts elicited were, that the deceased (an old hand in the colony and free by servitude,) was in the employ of Mr. Cleburne, as gardener, and had been directed to proceed to one of that gentleman's farms in the country. The deceased called at the house of a friend of his, named Donaldson, near the "City of Norwich." He ate a very hearty supper, and had been drinking, but was not intoxicated. He retired to bed, and at about two o'clock in the morning Donaldson was awoke by the deceased, who complained of being ill. Dr. Crooke was sent for and speedily in attendance. He bled the deceased, but before anything further could be done, life was extinct. Verdict—died by the visitation of God, from apoplexy. The Courier (Hobart), 15 Jan 1848.
