Family connections for Kezia (Brown) are: BROWN Kezia (Brown) was born about 1770 & became a gardener. She was tried for theft of garments at Gloucester city Quarter Sessions, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 6 1790 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship NEPTUNE; a voyage noted for extreme brutality of prisoners with a high death rate. She commenced a relationship with William John (Roberts) in 1791 & married him on 14 8 1793 at St Phillips CofE Sydney & produced 10children. After her husbands death in 1820 she continued with her family at Mulgrave Place. In 1828 she is recorded as at 150acre farm Cornwallis w/son Edward. She died on 22 6 1854 age83 & was buried at St Matthews CofE Windsor. [Some details taken from this Website] William John (Roberts) was born about 1756?. He was tried for theft of yarn of Wm (Moffatt) of Launceston at Cornwall Assizes Bodmin in 1786, sentenced to 7years, held at Bodmin Gaol & on DUNKIRK hulk in Plymouth Harbour Devonshire, sent to CHARLOTTE on 21 3 1787 & SCARBOROUGH on 31 3 1787 & arrived in NSW as a convict on 26 1 1788 after being on board for 12months on First Fleet ship SCARBOROUGH; he was assigned to Lieutenant George (Johnston). His sentence expired in 1793. He worked also as a carpenter. On 8 1 1794 he was granted 30acres near Sydney which he sold on 16 9 1800. In 1796 he was granted 60acres at Musgrave Place Hawkesbury; he also leased land & purchased 50acres, presumably at Mulgrave Place, in about 1808 from Thomas (Hobby) known as Hobby farm where they chose to live. He bought 32rods in Windsor Town. He died on 14/6 2 1820 age65 & was buried at St Matthews CofE Windsor. In the 1828 census we find Kezia, a widow, living on the farm at Cornwallis with her son Edward. Sainty & Johnson; 1828 Census of New South Wales: [Ref R0995] Roberts. Kezia, 58, FS, Neptune, 1790, Householder. [Ref R0996] Roberts Edward, 16, BC, Cornwallis. 150 acres, 100 cleared 50 cultivated, with 50 cattle. The entry on page 309/310 of Mollie Gillen's book: 'The Founders of Australia' is well worth reading, about this family.
