The "Hercules" ship was built in 1801 at South Sheilds, England. 1801 voyage from Ireland to New South Wales, Australia. Sailed via Rio de Janeiro and the Cape. A mutiny occurred just prior to their arrival at Rio - after 45 minutes it was quashed but 13 convicts had been killed. Jeremiah Pendergass was named as the ring leader and shot. 44 deaths in total on this voyage. There was then another ship, also named, "Hercules" built 1822 at Whitby, England who made 3 trips to Austraia, in 1825, 1830 & 1832.

1834 - Principal Superintendent of Convicts Office, Sydney 15th July 1834. The undermentioned Prisoners having absconded ................. Kilduffe Michael, Hercules (3), 30-1926, 37, Roscommon, coachman, 5 feet 3 and a half, dark freckled comp. brown hair, hazel eyes, small scar on upper and lower lip left side, crucifixion on right arm, from Geo. Allen, Esq. Elizabeth-st. since 13th July.

A horrible murder was committed on Sunday night, in Little James Street, Dublin, by a pensioner named Michael Kilduff, who was discharged from the 818th, or Connaught Rangers for opthalmia, and now enjoys a pensions of 6d. a day. Aberdeen Press and Journal, 16 Dec 1829
