Henry King was transported on the Hercules, departing 24th Dec 1824 and arriving 7th May 1825 with 135 passengers.

The "Hercules" ship was built in 1801 at South Sheilds, England. 1801 voyage from Ireland to New South Wales, Australia. Sailed via Rio de Janeiro and the Cape. A mutiny occurred just prior to their arrival at Rio - after 45 minutes it was quashed but 13 convicts had been killed. Jeremiah Pendergass was named as the ring leader and shot. 44 deaths in total on this voyage. There was then another ship, also named, "Hercules" built 1822 at Whitby, England who made 3 trips to Austraia, in 1825, 1830 & 1832.

Henry (King) was born about 1808. He became a paper marbler in London & was tried on 28 10 1824 at London Gaol Delivery for theft, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 7 5 1825 on HERCULES. He became a labourer & received his Certificate of Freedom 31/1145 on 23 11 1831. He married Mary Ann (Chapman) on 8 1 1852 age about43 at CofE Kelso. He died on 24 8 1876 age about68 & was buried at CofE Kelso. (some information taken from this Website) Henry (King) & Mary Ann (Chapman) produced 2children: 1.Elizabeth Susan (King) was born on 3 1 1854 at Kelso. 2.Henry William (King) was born on 5 1 1856 at Kelso & baptised there on 3 2 1856. He married Sophia Elizabeth (Tooby/Tooh/ey) on 14 3 1881 at Bathurst. He died on 25 5 1940 age84 at Bathurst & was buried at CofE Kelso. ..Sophia Elizabeth (Tooby/Tooh/ey) was born on 3 12 1861 at Bathurst.
