Per "Mary Anne", 1822 1822 Jun 5 On list of convicts disembarked at Hobart from the "Mary Anne" (Reel 6009; 4/3505 p.386) --------------------------------------------------------------------List of 45 female convicts disembarked at Hobart Town from the ship Mary Anne. Mary King, alias Dougall, tried Edinburgh Court of Justiciary, 19 Feb 1821, 14 years. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- HIGH COURT OF JUSTICIARY, EDINBURGH. On Monday the Court proceeded to the trial of Mary King or Dougal, accused of uttering a 5£. note of the Paisley Bank, knowing the same to be forged, by delivering the same to Auld, shoemaker, in the market, in payment of a pair of boots and a pair of shoes, and receiving back the balance. To this charge the panel pleaded Not guilty. After a trial of considerable length, the Jury found her Guilty, and the Court sentenced her to be transported beyond seas for 14 years.
