He was previously sentenced in 1839, to be transported 7 years for stealing silk handkerchiefs, and was sent to Bermuda. Family. F, Thos, M, Mary. B, Jas, Hy. S, Caroline, ? At N.P. Native place, Cheltenham. It appears his younger brother Henry Kitchen, 19, was also sentenced to be transported at the same Gloucester sessions. They both arrived in VDL, but on different ships. Both were sent to Millbank for a couple of years before being sent to VDL. The Indent for Henry Kitchen lists similar names of family members.




Gloucestershire Epiphany Sessions. Thomas Groves, 25, and Thomas Kitchen, 26, were for breaking the dwelling-house of Robert Dyer and Sarah Niblett, at Cheltenham, on the 15th November last, and stealing watch, watch guard, various other articles, their property. The case occupied the court for considerable time. Groves was acquitted ; Kitchen guilty. Having been previously convicted, he was sentenced to be transported for ten years. Transports.—The following transports were on Tuesday last removed from the Gloucester County Gaol to Millbank :—Henry Kitchen, Henry Mason, Thomas Kitchen, John Jones, William Pettigrove, James Caines, and Samuel Roberts.
