N.B. There are two persons named "William Knight" on this sailing of the 'Princess Charlotte' in 1824. William KNIGHT (Identifier 2) was convicted at Warwick, England on 27 March 1824 for stealing fowls. Previous conviction for poaching & served time in Warwick prison. Gaol report: "bad character" 7 yr transportation sentence. Hulk report: "orderly". Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship "Princess Charlotte" 1824. Single man. Colony of VDL: Assigned to work service. 1825: Govt gardens, New Town, nr Hobart. 1826: sent to Maria Island (off the east coast of VDL) 1829: Abscond but gave himself up, at Hobart. 1830: Being in a Public House, at Brighton. Note: There are numerous other persons in the Colony by this name, abt the same time so it is difficult to pinpoint the outcome of this man.
