Ely Assizes. Edward Lack was indicted for having, on the 27:h of December last, feloniously stolen a quantity of carpenter’s tools, the property of Thomas Wallis, of Witchford, The said Thomas Wallis stated, that having missed a quantity of his tools and suspecting the prisoner to have stolen them, he went to March in search of him, and found him at the Carpenter’s Arms, where saw the tools that he had lost; that he asked the landlord how they came there, when he informed him, they belonged to the prisoner, and that the prisoner said bought them two o'clock that morning, at Witchford. This witness identified a saw found in the  prisoner's tool basket, as his property. The jury found the prisoner Guilty of stealing under the value of one shilling. To be transported for seven years.
