16/7/1864 Hampshire Telegraph Hampshire, England: HANTS SUMMER ASSIZES George Lait and Joseph Buckley pleaded guilty to feloniously setting fire to a stack of straw, the property of at John Taylor at Romsey, on the 16th of May, 1864. Sentence - seven years' penal servitude. Joseph Buckley arrived WA per 'Corona' 1866. George Lait was listed as 21 years old on arrival in WA. He was 5'4ΒΌ" tall, brown hair, hazel eyes, long face, fresh complexion, middling stout, mole on right cheek, unmarried. literate. 22/5/1871: TOL 10/7/1871: COF Comments: Gardener. To South Australia 30/4/1881 and returned to Western Australia, Alive, 1886. 28/6/1888 The Daily News, Perth: George Lait, a cripple, was charged with being drunk. Cautioned. No date of death found.
