Joseph Whiting Lane was convicted of stealing a horse, 1835 and given a life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Asia' 4, arriving 21/02/1836. Wife Jane at Eastbourne & 9 children. Ticket of Leave 1844 Conditional Pardon 1846 Remarried to Louisa Underwood (transported per 'Emma Eugenia' 1844). Ref. 2253/1846.
