Mary Lane was indicted for slealing a shift, the property of Anne M'Carthy. The shift was put out to dry in it yard, and the prisoner took it off the line and went away, on which she was followed, and the article was discovered In her basket. Guilty. His Lordship remarked that the property taken was small, but the prisoner bring an old offender, he sentenced her to seven years transportation. Cork Constitution, 23 Aug 1827. Cork Assizes. ... Mary Lane, for stealing apparel from Ann McCarthy, seven years’ transportation, Limerick Chronicle, 25 Aug 1827.
