Old Bailey Proceedings February 1828 SARAH LANE,Theft,simple larceny 21st February 1828 770.Sarah Lane was indicted for stealing,on the 23rd of February,1 shawl,value 7s.,the goods of Sarah Nichols,and Simon Latter. JAMES HARRIS.I am a pawnbroker.On the 23rd of February,at ten o'clock at night,the prisoner came to pawn this shawl for 4s;I suspected it was stolen,and asked where she had got it;she claimed she had bought it at Messrs Nichols from 6s;but as there was a ticket marked 16s.6d.on it.I detained her. GEORGE WHIPPLE. I am apprentice to Sarah Nicholls and Simon Latter.pawnbrokers,Ratcliffe;this shawl is theirs,and was safe between five and six o'clock that evening;I did not miss it till Mr Harris came. GUILTY.Aged 29 Transported for Seven Years.
