David Lazarus was despatched on the Lucy Ann on 3 May 1830 bound for Norfolk Island (see The Campbelltown Convicts).
David Lazarus was 14 years old when indicted at the Old Bailey in 1818. He stole 1 mahogany case, 12s., 1 body of a microscope 7s., 6d., 4 glasses 7s., 1 concave mirror 2s., and other items, the goods of Philip Brock an optical instrument maker. 3/11/1825: COF 13/7/1829: COF renewed. 24/2/1830: Breaking and entering the house of Richard Proctor at Parramatta - sentenced to death. At this point he may have been sent to Norfolk Island. 28/8/1844: Committed for robint Mrs Weldon of 119 pounds in notes. Found guilty and sentenced to be transported for life. From Tasmanian Records: 2/11/1845: Arrived per 'Waterlily'. He was protestant, could read and write, 5'3 1/2" tall, age was stated to be 35, sallow complexion, dark brown to grey hair, grey whiskers, broad visage, dark brown eyebrows, hazel eyes, crooked long nose inclined to left, native place Portsmouth, Nose has been broken. Period of Probation 4 years. Station of Gang: Norfolk Island. 28/12/1846: Telling a wilful lie-admonished. 5/4/1847: Misconduct-1 month in chains. 10/8/47: Using profane language-36 lashes. 5/1/1848: Misconduct-3 months in chains 21/1/1848: Disobeying orders-10 days solitary. 14/4/1848: Having tobacco-1 month in chains 15/6/1848: Misconduct-Existing sentence extended 4 months. 17/12/1853: Granted a free pardon.
