Family connections for George (Lee) are: An amendment added Sep 2025. LEE George (Lee) was born in 1747. He was tried at Maidstone Kent General Assizes on 16 3 1789, sentenced to 7years, held on hulk CENSOR from 4 12 1789 & arrived in NSW on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship ADMIRAL BARRINGTON; he was sent to Norfolk Island in November 1791 on ATLANTIC. He died on 28 1/6 1796 age49 on Norfolk Island. [Some details taken from this Website] Sarah (Smith) was born in 1772 & became a servant. She was convicted of theft of handkerchiefs etc of her employer James (Thomlinson) at Old Bailey on 2 4 1788, sentenced to 7years, held probably at London/Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 3 6 1790 after a journey of 12months on Fleet ship LADY JULIANA; she was sent to Norfolk Island in 1790, arriving on 7 8 1790. She had had a first relationship with either George (Lee) or James (Lee). She had a second relationship with William (Pantoney MATILDA 1791-his first). She died on 10 10 1804 age32 mother of 2known children on Norfolk Island, although it is recorded that she left Norfolk Island in 1805 (as did her second husband); William (Pantoney continued to look after her children. Noted a Sarah Pantonges (Smith convict LADY JULIANA 1790) was buried on 10 10 1804 age40 on Norfolk Island. Tried 16 Mar 1789, Maidstone Kent, sentenced to 7yrs transportation beyond the seas George Lee was transferred to Censor Hulk at Woolwich 4th Dec 1789, aged 42 Embarked to NSW per the 3rd fleet ship Admiral Barrington - 27 Mar 1791, arriving at Port Jackson 16th Oct 1791 Transferred to Norfolk Island aboard Atlantic Nov 1791 In a relationship on Norfolk Island with Sarah Smith/Pantoney, likely fathering 2 children – 1) William Smith/Lee (1793-1870) 2) Maria Smith/Lee/Pantoney/Bloodworth (1796-1895) William Lee in his later life had stated that his father died on Norfolk Island some eight months before his sister was born. This ties in with the death date of George Lee. Note that the birth date of Maria is not 27 Aug 1796 as usually reported. This date is entry to stores on Norfolk Island, and will be at least 6mnths after birth due to weaning period George Lee died aged 54, 28th June 1796 on Norfolk Island
