Kentish Gazette - Tuesday 24 March 1789, p.2: "Gaol Calendar "Lent Assizes at Maidstone "Monday the 16th March 1789. "James Bond Esq, Sheriff ".... George Lee, for stealing at Dartford, sundry articles of wearing apparel the property of John Ayling and Robert Coopen [sic]. Seven years transportation."
