William Lee was transported on the Anna Maria, departing 6th Mar 1848 and arriving 7th Aug 1848 with 190 passengers.
Built 1836 in Calcutta. Wood barque of 421 Tons. Master Edward Smith. Sailed from England 1848 with 190 men from Pentonville prison under the care of surgeon Dr Robert Stevenson, . Twenty seven prisoners deemed to fall into "second class" were disembarked in Hobart and granted tickets of leave on landing and the remainder were disembarked at Geelong with conditional pardons. Sailed from Woolwich on 6 October 1851 under surgeon W. McCrae with 196 female convicts, landing on 26 January 1852.

MESSRS. CLARKSON and BODKIN conducted the Prosecution. GUILTY . Aged 29— Transported for Ten Years. William Lee was 30 years old on arrival, he was married with 3 children. Wife Charlotte at Enfield. William was 5’4 ¼” tall, could read and write, protestant, brown complexion and hair, grey eyes. His occupation was a "Tin Plate Worker". Father: William Mother: Elizabeth Brothers: Joseph, John Sisters: Elizabeth, Mary Anne, Caroline – all at native place of Middlesex. William was somewhat of an ‘Exile’ in that he received a TOL on arrival. 27/3/1849: Permission to marry Sarah Robertson (Cadet) approved. They married in 1849. No children found. 10/5/1850: Tried for ‘Embezzlemen’t under £5 at Hobart – sentence was unreadable but could make out ‘4 months’ ?? 10/6/1850: TOL Revoked 27/5/1851: TOL 21/6/1853: CP No date of death found.
