James LIDDLE was convicted at Berwick Upon Tweed on 9 April 1849 for robbery - stealing money from the person. 10yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Pestonjee Bomanjee' arriving 31 July 1852. Aged 27yrs; a carter; 5'7"; Protestant; single man; can read & write . Native place: Dalkeith, Scotland. Brothers: Robert & John Sister: Jesse Assigned out to work services in the Colony. First placement at Chilton, High Plains. Some minor misconduct - mostly being drunk. 15 Nov 1853: Ticket of Leave granted.
