Robert Lindsey Craford, age 20, tried at Derry, for horse stealing, Transportation for Life., Petitioner: Convict. Convict states he comes from Scotland and is an heir to 'splendid estates and titles.' He was visiting friends in Moneymore, Londonderry, where he was arrested for the alleged crime. Refers to two former petitions which he had submitted.
PETITION: Prisoner name: Robert Lindsay Crawford. Court and date of trial: Derry Assizes, Ireland, on 28 March 1827. Crime: Horse stealing - one horse, value £10, property of William Carson of Moneymore, Londonderry. Initial sentence: Death - commuted to transportation for life. Additional Information: Convict was held on the Essex hulk at Kingstown and sailed from Dublin on 3 November 1827 in the convict ship Moreley [sic] under Captain Henry Williams.
