CIRCUIT INTELLIGENCE. Jedburgh, April 19. The Circuit Court was opened here on the 16th current, by the Lord Justice Clerk. The only business before him, was a case of robbery, committed by an Irishman, calling himself John Linnichen, otherwise Henry Macgraw, on the person of John Macdonald, residing in Ruthwell, Dumfrieshire, a travelling merchant aged 101 years, on the road leading from Hawick towards Rule-water. The pannel having pleaded Guilty, the Advocate-Depute consented to restrict the pains of law to an arbitrary punishment; and his Lordship, after a very appropriate admonition, sentenced him to transportation for life. Caledonian Mercury, 22 April 1813. SCOTLAND EDINBURGH, The following convicts, under sentence transportation, were lodged in Edinburgh jail on Monday and Tuesday, previous their being sent to the hulks : ... John Linnichen, alias Henry M‘Graw, for robbery, life; ... Perthshire Courier, 9 Sep 1813.
